CINQUE TERRE HARBOUR AT GOLDEN HOUR — ORIGINAL IMPRESSIONIST CANVAS PAINTING
On this composition
A painting, before the light.
A village of the Cinque Terre on the Ligurian coast at golden hour. Houses in pink, coral, butter-yellow and peach climb the steep cliff in tight stacks, windows catching the low sun; a rocky headland drops to a small harbour where fishing boats lie on water turned turquoise and teal. Terraced green slopes and sprays of magenta bougainvillea hold the hillside, and the sky glows amber and gold over a band of open sea. Sandhya Kaushik sets the houses in bright blocky palette-knife dabs, drags the sea in cool blue-green scrapes broken with white surf, and warms the sky in long gold strokes.
The bright houses against the blue water make a lively, sunlit piece. It carries a living-room wall, a kitchen, or a wide space above a sideboard that welcomes colour.
