MOUNT FUJI AND THE CHUREITO PAGODA III — ORIGINAL IMPRESSIONIST CANVAS PAINTING
On this composition
A painting, before the light.
The classic alignment — pagoda, blossom and the cone behind — painted for the light rather than the postcard. Sandhya Kaushik puts the blossom on last as discrete raised dabs of pale pink that sit physically on top of everything else, and keeps Fuji itself thin and cool so it stays where it belongs, a long way back.
The most delicate piece in the collection. It suits a bedroom or a quiet room and works at a smaller size than most. This is one of four paintings Sandhya made of this subject — the light, the weather and the arrangement of the elements differ in each, and no two are the same picture.
