On this composition
A painting, before the light.
The parikrama path that circles Govardhan hill, painted in the warm hour before dark. A broad sandy road curves from the foreground into the distance, lined with figures on the walk: a woman in a marigold-orange sari, men in white, others bent low. A small terracotta-red roadside shrine with a gold dome sits mid-frame, and a vendor pushes a wooden handcart toward us while a herd of cattle rests on the right against the rust-red rock of the hill. Sandhya Kaushik lays the road in long dragged strokes of sand, ochre and pale gold, the hill in slabs of brick and burnt sienna, under a flat butter-yellow sky.
The receding road and low sun give it an unhurried, journeying mood. The horizontal pull suits a hallway, an entry, or a wide wall above a bench where the eye can follow the path.

Before you buy
The questions we are asked most
Where is this scene?
The parikrama path around Govardhan hill near Mathura, in the Braj region of Uttar Pradesh. Pilgrims walk the full 21-kilometre circuit of the sacred hill associated with Krishna, passing roadside shrines, vendors and grazing cattle along the way.
Is this a painting or a print?
An original painting. It is hand-painted on canvas by Sandhya Kaushik after you order, at the size you choose. It is not a print or a reproduction, and it comes signed, with a Certificate of Authenticity.
Will it look exactly like the photograph?
Very close, but not identical. Every painting is made by hand, so brushwork, texture and small details differ from the photographs, and colours vary between screens. That is the nature of an original painting and is not a defect.
When will it arrive?
It is handmade after you order and delivered in 12 to 18 days, in India or abroad (abroad: plus any time in customs). See the shipping policy.
Which finish should I choose?
Stretched arrives ready to hang. Floater framed, in black or gold, adds a frame around the canvas. Rolled travels in a tube, which suits international orders, and can be stretched by a local framer.
Can I have a size that is not listed?
Often, yes. WhatsApp the studio with your wall size; the size, finish, price and timeline are confirmed with you before you pay anything.
Do you deliver outside India?
Yes, to 28 countries, rolled in a tube. The delivery charge is shown at checkout before you pay. Import duties and taxes in the destination country are payable by the recipient.
Can I cancel my order?
Yes, free of charge, within 24 hours of ordering or at any time before painting begins. Once painting has begun it is a one-of-one piece and cannot be cancelled. See the cancellation and refund policy.
What if it arrives damaged?
Write to us within 48 hours of delivery with photographs of the painting and the packaging. We arrange the return pickup at our cost and replace the painting or refund you in full, as you prefer.
Is GST included?
Yes. Every price includes GST, and a GST invoice comes with every order.
