HAMPI STONE CHARIOT AT VITTALA TEMPLE — ORIGINAL IMPRESSIONIST CANVAS PAINTING
On this composition
A painting, before the light.
The famous stone chariot in the Vittala Temple complex at Hampi. The carved granite shrine rides on heavy wheels, small guardian elephants at its base, with a long colonnaded mandapa pavilion stretching behind at the left. To the right, Hampi's signature boulder hills and a cluster of palms catch warm morning light under a soft blue sky. Sandhya Kaushik works the weathered stone in grey-gold palette-knife strokes, the lit faces ochre and amber, the shadows cool, so the carving reads solid and sunstruck.
The warm light on ancient stone gives it a grounded, contemplative calm. It suits a living room, a study, or a hallway where a strong horizontal sits well.
