KERALA BACKWATERS WITH CHINESE FISHING NETS — ORIGINAL IMPRESSIONIST CANVAS PAINTING
On this composition
A painting, before the light.
A long stretch of the Kerala backwaters opening toward a peach-yellow horizon. A traditional kettuvallam houseboat moves down the centre channel; cantilevered Chinese fishing nets lean from a jetty on the left, and rows of coconut palms march down both banks, doubling in the water. A cluster of tiled-roof village houses and a small canoe sit on the right. Sandhya Kaushik lays the water in broad aqua and teal palette-knife scrapes broken by golden reflections, the palms in quick green dabs, and the sky in soft washes of peach and pale gold.
The low light and mirrored water keep the mood unhurried and warm. The wide format suits a bedroom, a wall above a long console, or a living room that wants a restful horizon.
