MANASI GANGA KUND GOVARDHAN — ORIGINAL IMPRESSIONIST CANVAS PAINTING
On this composition
A painting, before the light.
Manasi Ganga, the sacred kund at the heart of Govardhan town, seen from above at the close of day. A tall brown shikhara temple stands on the far bank, flanked by smaller domed shrines and the low brown ridge of Govardhan hill behind. Ghat steps curve all the way around the oval of water, dotted with small coloured umbrellas, and the tank itself lies olive-green and almost flat, carrying a long gold reflection down its centre. On the near steps a few seated figures tend rows of lamps and floating lotus offerings. Sandhya Kaushik builds the steps and buildings in dense palette-knife planes of sepia, raw umber and golden ochre, then drags the water thin so the gold catches like acrylic on glass.
The encircling steps give the scene a quiet, gathered calm. It settles a meditation room, a study, or a wide wall above a low console where the impasto can hold the light.
