On this composition

A painting, before the light.

A ghat on the Yamuna at Mathura in full sunset. A domed temple shikhara at centre catches the light in gold and rose, set against a large deep-red haveli with arched gateways on the right. Stone steps descend from the left, and a cluster of open umbrellas in pink, orange and green crowds a platform over the water, where teal-green ripples carry long golden reflections at lower right. Sandhya Kaushik loads the temple and walls in warm palette-knife slabs of gold, pink and brick-red, then drags the river cool and dark so the sunset reflections cut down through it.

The saturated warmth gives it real presence at small scale. It suits a living-room wall, a dining nook, or an entry that can take a glowing, colour-rich square.
