BROOKLYN BRIDGE AT DUSK II — ORIGINAL IMPRESSIONIST CANVAS PAINTING
On this composition
A painting, before the light.
The bridge from below the arches, cables fanning up across a violet sky with the skyline lit behind it. Sandhya Kaushik lays the stonework in warm greys against the cool sky and scratches the cables in with the edge of the knife rather than painting them, so they stay light and do not turn into rope.
Architectural and graphic. It suits a wall where a strong diagonal is wanted and pairs with the Fifth Avenue piece. This is one of four paintings Sandhya made of this subject — the light, the weather and the arrangement of the elements differ in each, and no two are the same picture.
