RADHA RANI SHRINE ON THE STEPS, VRINDAVAN — ORIGINAL IMPRESSIONIST CANVAS PAINTING
On this composition
A painting, before the light.
A still, intimate corner of old Vrindavan. On the left, the cascading aerial roots of a great peepal tree wrap a small arched stone niche, and inside it a warm lamp lights two tiny seated figures of Radha and Krishna. Worn stone steps climb and turn beside a tall ochre and rose building whose shuttered windows catch the late sun. At right, a veiled woman in deep green sits alone on the edge of the steps above a small green pool of still water at the foot of the frame. Sandhya Kaushik builds the walls in warm palette-knife planes of gold, rose and sienna, the steps in stacked ridges of stone and moss, holding the shrine as the one glowing point.
The hush and the single lit niche give it a tender, private mood. It suits a bedroom, a reading corner, or a prayer nook where a small, quiet scene rewards a close look.
