On this composition

A painting, before the light.

Ram Jhula, the iron suspension footbridge over the Ganga at Rishikesh, strung between its towers in the late golden light. On the far bank a tall, tiered temple and ochre riverside buildings step up the slope, with Himalayan foothills behind under a warm peach sky. The Ganga runs broad and shallow here, pale blue-grey over stony banks, with figures small on the embankments. Sandhya Kaushik builds the temples and steps in thick palette-knife slabs of ochre, terracotta and rust, the bridge in fine dark strokes, and the wide river in cool reflective scrapes that hold the warm sky.

The bridge and mountains give a sense of open foothill air. It suits a living room, a study, or a wall above a desk where a calm, expansive view is welcome.
