RANAKPUR JAIN TEMPLE PILLARS — ORIGINAL IMPRESSIONIST CANVAS PAINTING
On this composition
A painting, before the light.
Inside the Ranakpur Jain temple, among its forest of carved marble pillars. Slender columns covered in fine relief, with carved bracket figures of dancers and attendants, hold up a ceiling crowned by a concentric spiralled dome. Light filters in soft and diffuse, a single distant figure standing in the haze. Sandhya Kaushik keeps the whole interior close in tone, working ivory, pale grey, cream and soft gold in broad palette-knife sweeps, so the marble seems to glow from within rather than catch direct sun.
The cool, hushed palette gives it a meditative, almost monastic stillness. It suits a meditation room, a study, or a gallery wall where a quiet, tonal piece can breathe.
