TAJ MAHAL THROUGH AN AGRA FORT ARCH — ORIGINAL IMPRESSIONIST CANVAS PAINTING
On this composition
A painting, before the light.
A view from inside Agra Fort, looking out through a scalloped Mughal arch toward the Taj Mahal. The red sandstone of the fort presses close on both sides, its carved jali screen and ringed pillars built up in thick palette-knife slabs of brick, rust and near-black shadow. Through the opening the Taj sits pale and hazy across the Yamuna, its dome and minarets washed cream and soft gold, with small dark figures moving on a terrace at right and the river catching warm reflections below. Sandhya Kaushik keeps the distance smoky and the foreground stone loaded and rough.
The framed, recessed composition gives real depth to a square. It suits a study, a hallway, or a gallery wall where the architecture can be read slowly.
