On this composition

A painting, before the light.

Rolling Tuscan farmland in long afternoon light. A cluster of terracotta-roofed stone houses sits on the rise, ringed by tall dark cypress; a pale dirt road curls down and away through wheat-gold fields. Rows of olive trees stripe the slope at right, sunflowers crowd the foreground, and dabs of magenta wildflower flicker along the verges. Blue-grey hills fade to the horizon under a soft blue and apricot sky. Sandhya Kaushik builds the fields in broad palette-knife sweeps of wheat ochre and sienna, the cypress in near-black green, the sunflower heads in heavy gold knots of paint.

It is warm, open and rural, the kind of view that settles a room rather than charges it. It holds a living room, a dining wall, or a kitchen where the harvest colours feel at home.
