ASSI GHAT VARANASI AT SUNRISE — ORIGINAL IMPRESSIONIST CANVAS PAINTING
On this composition
A painting, before the light.
The southernmost of Varanasi's ghats at the hour before the city wakes. A broad banyan leans over the left edge in olive and bottle-green; below it, terracotta steps drop toward the Ganga where a handful of figures hold tree pose and forward folds. Red beehive temple spires cluster mid-frame, the sky bleached to peach and pale gold. Sandhya Kaushik builds the scene in acrylic with a palette knife, so the steps carry visible ridges of golden ochre and burnt sienna and the water is dragged in flat strokes of amber.
The mood is unhurried and warm, more devotional than busy. It settles a yoga room, a reading corner, or a wide wall above a low sofa where the morning light can pick up the impasto.
