OLD DELHI FROM THE RED FORT RAMPARTS — PANORAMIC ORIGINAL CANVAS PAINTING
On this composition
A painting, before the light.
A high view over Old Delhi taken from the ramparts of the Red Fort. Red sandstone walls and a domed corner chhatri anchor the left, with green lawns and stepped terraces below; a reflecting water channel runs through the foreground. Beyond the fort the old city flattens into a dense field of rooftops, and the white domes and twin minarets of the Jama Masjid rise at the centre against a soft pink-gold sky. A cluster of market umbrellas in red, blue and yellow breaks the rooftops at the right. Sandhya Kaushik works the fort in bold red ridges and keeps the far city in quick, thinning dabs so the distance recedes into haze.
The elevation and the spread of rooftops give it real depth. The wide format suits a long living-room wall, a study, or a space above a sideboard.
